The Story of Little Amelia

The Story of Little Amelia

One sunny fall morning, Ninette and her mom Shirle were driving down the highway going to Penticton, when they spotted a tiny kitten curled up by the side of the pavement. Their hearts sank. Without hesitation, they pulled over and found a scruffy, injured little grey-and-white kitten, barely able to move. The poor thing was in desperate need of help.

Ninette and Shirle rushed the kitten straight to us (Lindsey Veterinary Hospital), where Dr. Fitzgerald and our team quickly assessed her condition. Though she’d suffered a few injuries, her condition was otherwise stable. Ninette’s determination to save the kitten was clear—she was ready to do whatever it took to make sure the little one pulled through.

Within the first 12 hours of supportive care, Dr. Fitzgerald noticed a significant improvement.

The kitten, once weak and immobile, was starting to move on her own, her eyes brightening with each passing hour.

Dr. Fitzgerald called Ninette with the good news, and she couldn’t have been more thrilled. Knowing she had to give this little fighter a forever home, Ninette named her Little Amelia and excitedly arranged to bring her home.

Today, Amelia is a playful ball of energy, fitting in perfectly with her new family: She is fondly attached to Pixie the cat and Olivia the puggle. Together with the other pets, they make the perfect fur family, sharing love, laughter, scooter rides, and sunny days.

It’s amazing how a little and random kindness can change everything.
